Out of nowhere I had to hide inside for a few weeks from the heat. Power dropping on occasion added a lot to the exhausting air. Some are calling this "summer".

After enough of that I escaped to the wilds of upstate NY, where it was almost as warm right up until the weather broke for a perfect night under the stars. I was able to see many friends and spend tons of time with family, a great time all around.

Creating

More progress on tim the timer: It's now rendering a timer!

And that's about it. But given that text started out looking like this:

I'm very happy with the progress.

Next up is more serious interactivity, building out a couple UI components. and maybe eventually even reading from the database.

Consuming

On the far edge of "Consuming", possibly better labelled Competing, I've played a lot of Celeste. This isn't new a new habit, but due to the extra time hiding inside from the heat wave this time I achieved a goal.

I got to the top of the mountin in under an hour. To be precise: 58:07.941

And for more detail:

Screenshot of Celeste Progress card, listing out the times for each portion of the game. Forsaken City: 1:37.121, Old Site: 2:54.114, Celestial Resort 8:49.754, Golden Ridge: 5:49.520, Mirror Temple: 9:39.479, Reflection: 12:06.750, The Summit: 16:32.562

This has been the accumulation of a few years of on and off running the game, which came together into one night of good execution. Since then I've been working on 100%'ing a save of the game, since I haven't done that in entirety before.

The last levels are hard, so I don't plan on running 100% as a category. There's room for improvement in that any % time anyways, so I'll go back to that eventually.

Considering

On the tech side, I've picked up a Tom Macwright suggestion: Leader Key.

I've copied the Cmd + J as Leader and haven't ran into conflicts yet, and have gone with essentially the first letter or two from the app name as the signifier for app to switch to. It's very similar flow to spotlight, but solves for the times when the most recent app I've opened isn't the one I wanted (No more Finder getting in the way of Firefox)

It's very simple but has fundamentally changed how move around my computer, so I can recommend it. I think could be a nice way to kick off timers with tim's current cli mode too.
